Glorious Stories and Riveting Reads

We have dedicated our day to reading one of our favourite books to celebrate our love of reading. Here are some pictures of us sharing our thoughts and ideas on a variety of books, as well as having some quiet time reading to ourselves.

The Three Pigs

We have been reading a wide range of stories in English and in guided reading sessions. However, we are currently focusing on the story: The Three Pigs by David Wiesner. Focusing on specific reading skills, we have read this book independently. We have then structured our book from beginning to end in order to begin to write a story retell.

Remembrance Day

We celebrated Remembrance Day by creating poppies to display on our school grounds. We used different techniques to apply paint and materials on our poppies.


We were very kindly provided with conkers from a Year 2 child and decided we would like to do some fantastic crafts with them. We used our artistic skills to design and make animals that are found in the Autumn season. Firstly, we went into the outdoors to find appropriate materials for our project and began to make animals such as: deers, owls, birds, bats and many more. 


We planted grass and watched it grow over a period of time!


We have been working extremely hard in maths by partitioning 2-digit numbers. We have found out the number of tens and ones/units that form a particular number and have then represented the numbers using dienes equipment. To challenge ourselves further, we have explored how we can partition 2-digit numbers in different ways- our images show how we have achieved this.


As Gymnasts, we have been practising moving, travelling and balancing around the room in different ways. We have used the equipment to explore a variety of shapes such as the tuck, pike and straddle. Using our balancing techniques, we performed these shapes at different levels on our apparatus. Next, we attempted to travel under, over, through, on and around our apparatus to challenge ourselves even more!

Jackson Pollack

In topic, we have used our own interpretation of Jackson Pollack to create amazing art work. We know Jackson Pollack liked to express himself through his creative work so we have done the same. We have used different techniques and motions to apply vibrant paint to the paper using a range of materials such as: sticks, lollipop sticks and syringes. We are extremely happy with our masterpieces and have enjoyed our morning!
