Home Learning

Welcome parents and children of Shay Lane Primary School to our home learning section of the website. This page has been designed to assist you with accessing  home learning for your child in the event of them either self-isolating or a class bubble closure.

As always, if there is something we can help you with, please contact our school office via telephone and email and we will endeavour to meet your needs.

There are two kinds of online learning:-

Blended Learning

This is where an individual child may have to self isolate for some time because they have been in direct contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 outside of our school community.

Remote Learning.

This is where a whole class bubble has been asked to work from home because of a positive test within their class (this could be either an adult or a pupil).

Please use this link to access our full Remote Learning Policy

Blended Learning

If a pupils has been instructed to self-isolate by NHS they must stay at home and access their classes weekly timetable on Class Dojo. The timetable will have links to other websites such as White Rose Maths or Oak National Academy where there will be recorded lessons for the children to participate in. These will closely match lessons taking place at school. There will also be links to a variety of other resources for the children to use. Every child should have brought home a green exercise book to record their work.

Their class teacher will contact you at least once a week to discuss any issues the children may be experiencing, however regular contact can be made with the teacher via Class Dojo. Class Dojo codes have been given to every child.

Remote Learning

The main difference between Blended Learning and Remote Learning is that the timetable will contain some interactive lessons which will be delivered online by the class teacher using Microsoft Teams. Feedback will be part of the lesson and written feedback will be given once assignments have been returned.

Our younger pupils may need adult assistance to access Microsoft Teams.

Please see below instructions on how to use Microsoft Teams.

If you are not able to access any of our learning platforms please contact school and alternative provision will be made.
