Shay Lane Primary School Early Years offers a 26 place Nursery and a 30 place Reception, in a free flowing classroom that allows for an easier transition from nursery to full time reception age. Nursery pupils start the term after their 3rd birthday and parents are invited to register their child in person, this also allows the opportunity for a viewing of the setting with the headteacher. If you would like to arrange a visit, this can be arranged with the school office. Parents who have registered in our nursery will also be invited in for our 'Stay and Play' sessions nearer their child's start date.
We offer both 15 funded hours and 30 funded hours to our nursery pupils. Our morning session runs from 8.45am to 11.45am and our afternoon session runs from 12.15pm to 2.45pm. These sessions are based on the age of your child and will be discussed at registration. Our 30 funded hours run from 8.45am - 2.45pm. Parents who are eligible for our 30 funded sessions have the option of providing a packed lunch or purchasing a school meal for their child. Our parents who are eligible for 30 funded hours also have the option to pay termly so that their child can stay until 3.15pm. If you would like further information about this, please contact the school office.
The curriculum can be located on our early years pages and our Nursery and Reception setting was also recognised as an outstanding provision by Ofsted in February 2024.
